CELEBRATING DEALERS 20 Celebrating Dealers Ally salutes the generous spirit and philanthropic commitment of automotive dealers across the nation. In 2008, South Amboy, N.J.-based DCH Auto Group became a major supporter of Students Against Destructive Decisions. A lly has long known that the most accomplished automotive dealers have deep roots in their communities. In addition to providing employment opportunities and a signifcant tax base, dealers often assume leadership roles in local philanthropic projects. And a 2012 survey conducted by Ally indicates that this commitment to community and charity is still on the upswing. The survey found that 65 percent of U.S. dealers increased their charitable contributions in 2012 compared to the year before. In addition, 54 percent of respondents said they planned to increase their charitable contri- butions again in 2013. More than two-thirds of dealers said their primary motivation was to make a positive impact on their community; 21 percent act on behalf of a personal cause. And it doesn't end there. The survey also showed that 98 percent of dealers surveyed contribute to one or more local organizations, with 45 percent of them contributing more than $20,000 per year to their respective communities. Additionally, 25 percent of dealers reported that they and their staff volunteer more than 100 hours of community service every year. The following is a look at some of the men and women who are carrying on the auto industry's tradition of giving.
